7 Reasons To Book A Festive Getaway!

Last year, unfortunately, none of us had the option of getting away over the festive period, which is exactly why this year is all the more special! Here we offer 7 great reasons to spend this year with your loved ones.

Join us at Tanylan Farm and relax in one of our luxury Welsh holiday cottages where we'll be making up for lost time, providing a Christmas experience that will be treasured for years to come.

1.      Nostalgia

Everyone loves Christmas right? You wake up feeling like a child again, with that anticipation of fun food and the look on your loved ones face on opening that special gift you purchased for them. It’s also a time of reflection and religious celebration, whatever it is for you , there is no doubt it’s a special time to share with your loved ones. Create some happy memories and pull out those family traditions, however quirky they may be and bask in some nostalgia with those closest to you.

2.      Save Money

Spending Christmas together is a far more cost effective way to enjoy Christmas, statistics show, almost up to 3 times more cost effective. The whole family can chip in with the cost of the huge roast dinner, and if shared there is far less to be wasted.

3.      Reconnect

Lets face it, we all need it after the last few months! The festive season is the perfect opportunity to catch up with both family and friends.

4.      Share the responsibility and take away the stress

Don’t take the burden of hosting Christmas alone, share the load with a group event. Have a handful of friends or family help prepare the meal and don’t stress if the turkey is dry, it was a joint effort.

5.      Fill the gap

Let the children be spoilt and spend time with the grandparents, it’s a wonderful time of year for families to reconnect, but to share the load and keep the kids entertained whilst you have some time to relax.

6.      Listen and learn

Whether it’s learning how to prepare a new cocktail or how to make amazing stuffing like grandma, a group event like Christmas is a fantastic way to learn new skills. Get the children involved.

7.      Create memories

It’s a truly wonderful time of year, create long lasting memories, whether it’s snuggling up in front of a warm fire with Grandma and Grandpa or having s snowball fight with your siblings, the festive season can be truly magical and a time to cherish.

Whether it's an escape from the bustling shopping crowds before the 25th, spending the special day seeing in the New Year, or just a family winter break away, it's guaranteed to be a magical adventure.

Our fully facilitated cottages and barns cater for the little ones with cots, highchairs, baths and bed guards, meaning you can be reassured throughout your stay that everyone is safe and comfortable. You're also encouraged to bring along your four-legged companions as all our holiday cottages are dog-friendly. What's Christmas without a festive doggy costume?! In addition, Carmarthenshire offers endless dog-friendly winter walks along the coast but make sure you wrap up warm! Especially if you’re dreaming of a white Christmas.

Divinely draped in traditional Christmas decorations, staying in can be done in festive style. Treat yourself to a soak in a cottage with a private hot tub, cook up your choice of winter warmers in our fully equipped kitchens and stream your favourite festive film with our complimentary WiFi, completed with a marshmallow topped hot chocolate. (or perhaps something stronger!, try our Christmas cocktail The Sugar Coated Martini) Don’t forget the children, try our recipe for Wholesome Chocolaty Milk

If you’re wanting to get out and about, there are plenty of winter-friendly activities in the surrounding areas. Explore the several historic castles, plan a visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales or embark on a cycling adventure along route 4 of the Celtic Trail.

For smaller groups, our Longhouse Cottages Wrth y Nant and Coeden Afal both sleep 4 for a cosy, intimate celebration, which are both available for Christmas and New Year.

Our third Longhouse Hawton Cottage is perfect for larger parties of 6-8. It’s fully booked for both Christmas and New Year, but we do still have some December availability, so be quick! Our Bryntowy Cottage can sleep up to 6 guests and is also booked for Christmas, but New Year’s is still unoccupied.

Our Barns Ty Llo and The Coal House also sleep up to 6 and anticipate your arrival for Christmas! In fact, the Coal House is free for New Year too, so you could enjoy an extended getaway.

"The real log burner added to the magic. We played board games and drank hot chocolate and forgot the world outside. It was magically Christmassy. The hot tub under the stars was an additional bonus as there were lots of shooting stars to be seen. All facilities to cook everything from breakfast to a full roast. The beach walk topped off the most amazing weekend. We will see you again next year." - Ryan, Pontypridd

“This is a gorgeous property for a group of friends or family to spend time together. The space is amazing, and it has everything you could wish for to make your stay comfortable. It looked gorgeous at Christmas and is warm and cosy.”
